This association promotes local action for global sustainability and supports cities to become sustainable, resilient, resource-efficient, bio diverse, low-carbon; to build a smart infrastructure; and to develop an inclusive, green urban economy. The ultimate aim is to achieve healthy and happy communities. We have developed stable, long-term programs to support local-level sustainability and continue to develop innovative new programs to respond to issues of international concern. This association was founded in 1990.. The Council was established when more than 200 local governments from 43 countries convened at our inaugural conference, the World Congress of Local Governments for a Sustainable Future, at the United Nations in New York. The organization's mission, charter and name to better reflect the current challenges local governments are facing.

Through its local, regional and international programs, and projects, This association works with local governments to generate political awareness of key themes in the area of sustainability. Depending on interns skills, university requirements and interests on application Environmental, Engineering and Sustainable Development students will be placed in one or more of the following areas:
Rio +20 Biodiversity Climate EcoMobility Management Instruments Procurement Resilience and Adaption Sustainable cities 
Marketing and Sales Interns Marketing and Communications Interns will work on a variety of Marketing projects on a global perspective that will cover areas related to several work-streams, ie water, energy and general communications.
On application specific project tasks will be provided and tasks set up according to the interns skill sets and university requirements. This position would suit a student with a Business Engineering or Sales Engineering background who is able to work analytically.

- Studying towards a degree/diploma in Environmental Management/Engineering/Sustainability, Marketing/Communications or a related field
- Some past experience would be preferable in your field but not essential
- Good communication skills
- Proactive thinking and good research skills.

This company host interns in the following areas in their production facilty in Cape Town:
Production – They require Operations or Quality Engineering students or similar qualification. These students will work closely with the Production Manager in the daily process.
Quality - Quality or Industrial Engineering students or those with a similar qualification will work closely with the Quality Manager in the daily process.
Maintenance – Students who have exposure in Industrial, Electrical and some Mechanical Engineering will work ona variety of Engineering applications going in line with maintenance procedures in the factory. Business Engineering/Technical Management - Students will be involved in Financial Management, Operations Management tasks and specific work areas will be given according to their skill sets and study requirements. The company will ensure that interns are well supervised and have access to the relevant facilities to carry out their internship tasks in a challenging and innovative environment.

-Be studying towards a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Design, Business Engineering, Quality Engineering or a related field -Have a strong organisational background,
-Previous work experience preferred
-Interest in the Photovoltaic Sector
-Good English skills. -Excellent attention to detail.
