This organization was established in 1999 as a community-based organisation and is located in Cape Town in a township. It is one of three organization throughout Africa. The main purpose is to bring hope to children and families. This organization is divided into three programmes.
Community Support Programme: This is the programme that supports children and families directly, by running a children’s home and by helping to provide a children’s HIV clinic within the community. They aim to meet the physical, emotional, reunification, educational and recreational needs of children in their centre.
Community Development Programme: This Programme aims to build skills and networks within the community, by running life skills and leadership skills for young people, providing information and referrals to families, such as social work services, parenting courses, a resource centre and networking with community based organisations.
Organisational Support Programme: This Programme supports their services to children and families through Finance, Facilities, and Fundraising.

Work closely with the Facility Manager of This organization as well as other professionals.
Tasks would include :
Learning about Beautiful Gate in general as an organization
Attending sub committee meetings to see the logistics of running an organization
Updating and learning about This organization’s policies and procedures
Learning how to liaise with staff working with the particular student .ie. boost staff moral, interaction and participation
Assisting with and make suggestions regarding overall current operations Creating awareness of the centre through communication channels and Public Relations tasks and Fundraising activities and make suggestions on leisure time activities etc and give a performance appraisal of the services offered and delivered.
The intern could also be given their own PR project to work on from start to delivery under supervision and be assisted in implementing it. This organization also works in partnership with Eziko. This is focused primarily on providing affordable quality food for children in the Child & Youth Centre.

Background of Public Relations/Marketing/Business Administration/Human Resources/Facility Management
Able to interact with and be tolerant of individuals from different cultural and religious backgrounds
Previous internship or work experience preferred with good communication skills

Facility Management

This Hospital is locally renowned as the training ground for some of South Africa’s best doctors, surgeons and nurses. Internationally, this hospital gained global fame when, in December 1967, a young UCT educated surgeon named Dr Christiaan Barnard completed the world’s first successful human heart transplant on Louis Washkansky (who was suffering from heart complications brought about, primarily, by his diabetes). As a government funded teaching hospital, this hospital is staffed by highly experienced individuals who can typically be seen to be mentoring medical school students from the University of Cape Town who are completing the final period of their training (often referred to as clinical training). The standard of care is therefore very high, and patients are only admitted to the facility if they have been directed to do so by a primary or secondary health care worker or facility. The hospital was first put into commission in 1938, but by 1984 had to undergo massive extensions to the original building. Two new wings were added to the hospital. The University of Cape Town has been ranked, according to several internationally compiled and authoritative indexes, to be the best university on the African continent and among the best 200 universities worldwide, and this hospital itself lays claim to international renown that extends beyond the feat achieved in 1967. This is to say that the hospital is an internationally celebrated research institution and is highly regarded for its trauma unit, anesthesiology department and internal medicine department. In addition to brilliant local minds, this hospital also draws many visiting medical students, residents and specialists to it each year. These students and specialists come to the hospital to gain further experience in the various fields of endeavour in which the hospital engages.

An operations/logistics intern with a strong interest in the leisure industry will be involved in the following tasks amongst others. Procurement of building material, food items, solar items and borehole equipment for their Lodge / Camp in Zim / Maun Transport solutions. Research to find solutions for Eco products, installing lightning conductors etc. Reconciliations of Tourism Levies Stock capturing and P & L sheets And various other tasks that come up in an extremely busy operations department.
Interns have the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge on a management and logistics level
